Pre-License Course
To obtain your real estate license you are required to attend a 60-hour real estate salesperson pre-license exam prep course and 36 hours of practical training. The 60-hour course is held on consecutive weekends. After you have completed the 60-hour course you will be eligible to take the licensing exam. The exam will test you on the material covered in the 60-hour course. The Pre-License Classroom Courses Online Version of the Real Estate Salesperson Pre-License Course This course is approved by the Iowa Real Estate Commission and is designed to help students take and pass the State's Real Estate Exam. STEP 1: STEP 2: STEP 3: All course information is online and no additional textbooks or study materials will be provided. This course is completely SELF-STUDY. There is no instructor or staff available to assist with course questions. The Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS® and the Quad Cities Area REALTOR® Association have partnered to provide this online service. All communication and correspondence regarding this course will come from the Quad Cities Area REALTOR® Association. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Quad Cities Area REALTOR® Association at 563-355-6655 or education@qcarealtors.com. Refunds will be applied only if the student has NOT completed more than one lesson following the tutorial.

The 36 hours of practical training are divided into three 12-hour sessions: Listing Practices, Buying Practices and Developing Professionalism. Each session is one weekend. These courses will teach you the basics of being a real estate agent. You will be required to attend each full session to receive your certifi cates. You will need these certificates to apply for your license. There is also an online version of the 60-hour course. The additional 36 hours are only available in the classroom. |

Anyone arriving late (no matter how little) "shall not" receive a certificate. Please click here to read more. Beginning January 1, 2009, educational requirements to receive a license will be raised. In addition to the 60-hour pre-license course, students will be required to take the 36 hours of education that were originally required in the first 3 years. The new law will require that the three 12 hour courses (Listing Practices, Buying Practices and Developing Professional Conduct & Ethical Practices) be taken before a student can apply for a license.
