Application InstructionsYou may NOT file an original application until you are associated with a broker. You will need a sponsoring broker to sign the broker certification section of your application for license, verifying that you are associated with or engaged by that broker. You MUST have a broker signature to get your original license. You will need to submit a certificate of completion of the required 96-hours of pre-license courses with the application. (Not applicable to persons applying under the Rule 193E-5.3 (543B) or by reciprocity.) If you have any questions concerning the acceptability of your hours, please contact the Real Estate Commission prior to filing your application for the examination - your class work must be completed prior to taking the examination.
To your license application you will need to attach the following items:
• A license fee of $125. • A pass notice from the examination service. • Proof of completion of the 96-hours of pre-license courses. This must be in the form of a completion certificates. • Proof of E&O insurance. • You must complete the "Non-Resident Consent" section of the application if you reside outside of Iowa. • You must have knowledge that your Background Check is complete. Check for your name on the "List of completed backgrounds waiting for applications" at www.iowa.gov/irec. • You must provide the signature of your employing broker on your license application form. In completing your application:

The new law will require that the three 12 hour courses (Listing Practices, Buying Practices and Developing Professional Conduct & Ethical Practices) be taken before a student can apply for a license.
